OSM Piatnica
On the way to improving security and increasing network traffic.
OSM Piątnica supplies shops with fresh, natural and healthy dairy products: butter, , cream, milk, yoghurt, cottage cheese, various types of cheese and cocktails. All products are made in an ecologically clean area with a typically agricultural character and are perfect as an ingredient for delicious dishes in home cooking, as well as a snack for work or school.
Currently, OSM in Piątnica employs about 1,000 people. It has its sales representatives in every province of Poland. Finished products are manufactured at the plants in Piątnica and Ostrołęka. It was in these two locations that Extreme Networks network switches were deployed, operating in the center and at the edge of the network.

- podniesienie wydajności.
Głównym wyzwaniem było doprowadzenie do sytuacji, w której możliwe jest zarządzanie siecią, a także kontrola nieautoryzowanego dostępu do sieci. Przeszkodą była niejednorodna sieć z ograniczoną dostępnością usług.
Extreme Networks network switches at OSM in Piątnica
The implementation of the new solution coincided with a time that gave rise to additional challenges. However, despite the extraordinary situation related to the prevailing pandemic, IBCS Poland working teams consulted the progress of work on an ongoing basis. Everything was done remotely, during regular teleconferences organized by the company. This was not an obstacle to catching and eliminating individual obstacles. The very approach to the matter from both sides allowed the implementation to be carried out efficiently despite the existing limitations.
The task was divided into two main stages:
- analysis of SSO expectations in Piątnica, audit of the existing LAN and WLAN networks; implementation of activities through the installation and configuration of Extreme Networks network switches, as well as the installation and configuration of software for monitoring and managing network infrastructure;
- integration of the existing WLAN network with the new LAN network, preparation of implementation documentation and preparation of the team to use the new solution (training of OSM employees on new network infrastructure monitoring and management systems).
The Extreme Management Center (XMC) network management system was used. The network consists of Extreme Networks network switches, which allows for stable and secure communication between the company’s branches. It is fully integrated with the company network environment and managed from one desktop along with other elements of the entire solution.
Improved security and performance
The solutions proposed by IBCS Poland significantly increased the security of the network in OSM Piątnica. In addition, the management of the entire network environment has been simplified. The dairy now has access to full information about the status of its network, devices connected to it and network activity of individual users.
Zbigniew Koplin emphasizes that the implementation of the solutions proposed by IBCS Poland made it possible to improve the safety and efficiency of the company, and also allowed the management of the entire network, i.e. it brought exactly the results that the company expected.
It is worth noting that the environment has been designed and implemented in such a way that it is possible to expand it further. The solution used here can be expanded in the future based on the growth and change of the company’s needs. It is scalable and flexible.
