WLAN wireless network devices

Wondering how to choose WLAN wireless devices? Thanks to modern technology, you can significantly improve your network. Provide it with greater performance, stability and secure connectivity. This will be helped first of all by properly selecting the device, but also by their proper placement. In addition to information about the necessary access points or switches, you also need to know how to create a proper and effective WLAN network design.

Devices that enable wireless use of WLAN:

Access Point

AP, is an abbreviation of the English “access point”. It is one of the key elements of the infrastructure that makes up the WLAN network. In addition, it also includes network cards, antennas and electrical accessories (cables, power supplies, etc.). However, access points are so important that their location and configuration determine the signal quality and network bandwidth. In practice, access points determine the comfort of work. The choice of access points should depend on the rooms where the WLAN network is to function. There are both internal access points (indoor) and external access points (outdoor). This type of indoor wireless network devices work well in closed rooms, with a temperature range of 5-40 degrees C and no nuisance such as rain or dust. On the other hand, outdoor access points can be used at a temperature range of -20-50 degrees Celsius, as well as in dusty conditions.

    Switch (network switch)

A network switch (switch) is a small device that affects the performance of the WLAN. It consists of the so-called ports – one device can be connected to each of them. The choice of switch should therefore depend on how many devices are to use WLAN. It is also worth paying attention to the visibility of the LEDs informing about the individual parameters of the device (receiving and sending data, throughput, speed of operation or possible errors).

In addition, among the wireless devices of the WLAN network, we can mention:

    • WLAN antenna adapter
    • Batteries for routers
    • Wi-Fi antennas
    • Wi-Fi antenna cables
    • Network cards, WiFi adapters
    • Wi-Fi receivers
    • Routers
    • Mesh networks
    • Wi-Fi repeaters

The selection of appropriate devices should be consulted with a specialist beforehand, so that their use would bring measurable benefits for the operation of the network.
